Hello, I am Natsumi Keiko, a hijab cosplayer from Indonesia. I do cosplay since 2014. I got dragged into cosplay by my best friend (also my seatmate), but it seems fun so I stick around for now.

My best friend also a hijab cosplayer, but several years ago she decided to stop cosplaying because she lost her confidence. At the first place, she ask me to do hijab cosplay for accompanied her in a maid-butler cosplay project (around 7 peoples project made by 7 peoples of my bestfriends). "What is hijab cosplay? It can called cosplay? Really?" my brain confused. Also I don't want to spend my money for the expensive costumes that used just several times in a year.

But my bestfriends asked me and begged to me, so I can't stop. My first costume was made by costume maker, so it still expensive for me. For the first time hijab cosplaying, I felt shy, my make up was so simple and bad. But after that event, I felt so challenged and made my first handmade costume. I got help from my bestfriends. I got sewing subject in Junior High School several years ago, so I just improved my skills. After that, I did my costumes by myself for simple design.

From 2014 until the beginning of 2017, I still did simple hijab styling. But in the end of 2017 I tried to make more complex styling.

Yes

Q6: What is your most favorite Anime? Cartoon? or Tv-Shows

My favorite anime are Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso (Your Lie in April), Hataraku Saibou (Cells at Work), Mekakucity Actors, RWBY, Satsuriku no Tenshi (Angels of Death), Dororo remake, Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer), Yakusoku no Neverland (The Promised Neverland), Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari, Sword Art Online, Shingeki no Kyoujin (Attack on Titan), Miraculous Ladybug, The Rise of Guardians, Boku no Hero Academia (My Hero Academia), Deadly 7 Inside Me (Indonesia LINE Webtoon)

Q7: Do you still recall of whom inspired you to venture and further improve your Hijab cosplay?

Yasmin (my best friend who forced me to do Hijab Cosplay in the Senior High School LOLOL), Ai Nurul, Kazeyukii Sekai, Ange Minami

Q8: Do you find Hijab Styling for Cosplay Difficult?

At first, I do simple hijab styling for several years. But around 2017 I try to make the hijab styling more complex than before. It's so challenging, especially for spiky hair character.

Q9: Do you do your own cosplay hijab style or do you get inspired from other hijab cosplayers?

Depends, sometimes I tried my own styling and it look nice.

Q10: How many hours or days did you spend on average to complete one set of cosplay? you may elaborate if you wish to

Around 2 weeks until 1 month. But I ever do 2 costumes in just 1 week. Depend on the business in real life activities.

SECRET HAHAHA.... I rarely share or tell peoples about my cosplan.

But for this year maybe the next cosplan is...... THE CLUE IS RED. HEHE

Q14: Do you also draw your own artwork?

Q19: What made you join the Cosplay?

• I wanted to cosplay as the characters that I liked
• I like cosplay costumes and actively involve in costume making
• It just felt like fun in the beginning, that is how I started to cosplay
• I find cosplay interesting, and love the challenge in making new costumes
• It is fun and to get involve with other Cosplayers, while making new contacts
• I got dragged into this by someone I know, but it seems fun so I stick around for now
• I felt that cosplay is a method to escape reality, to release stress from school or work
• I like the feel of being fablously well known among my peers, as it boosts my self-confidence
